Agility Robotics Picks Nyobolt Fast-Charging Batteries to Keep Digit 5 Humanoid Working Over 20 Hours a Day

Power management is one of the hardest problems for humanoid robot designers, and Agility Robotics says it has a new answer for its Digit 5 robot.
Agility Robotics said it is working with Nyobolt on a fast-recharge battery system for Digit 5. The companies claim the technology will allow the robot to work more than 20 hours in a day.
Daniel Diez, Agility's chief business officer, said Digit's uptime is the business case, adding that Digit 5 will deliver more than 20 hours of productive work in a 24-hour day, which is more than two full shifts.
Key details
Agility, based in Salem, Oregon, describes Digit as a multi-purpose, human-centric robot that is commercially deployed today, and says it has accumulated more than 65,000 hours of real-world operations. Last month it released Digit 5 with new legs and acknowledged it is considering wheeled locomotion.
Nyobolt, founded in 2019, says it combines proprietary anode materials, advanced battery cell design and integrated power electronics to enable fast charging, high power density, reduced weight and extended lifecycles. The 20-hour figure is a claim by the companies rather than an independently verified result.
