D-Wave Delivers Advantage2 Annealing Quantum Computer to Italy for Installation at Villa Saporiti in Como

D-Wave announced at Digital Innovation Forum 2026 that its Advantage2 annealing quantum computer has arrived in Lombardy, Italy.

The system is being installed at Villa Saporiti in Como. It is funded by Swiss Quantum Technology SA (SQT) under a 10 million euro agreement and is referred to within the Q-Alliance ecosystem as the VoltaB1.

Once operational it will be accessible through D-Wave's Leap quantum cloud service, giving European researchers, universities and businesses access to the system.

Key details

The Advantage2 system has more than 4,400 qubits and is intended to support optimization, materials simulation and other industrial workloads. D-Wave says the arrival is an important step in Q-Alliance's work to turn Italy's quantum ambitions into research capabilities, practical applications and industrial opportunity.
