RoboParty Unveils RP1, a Full-Stack Open-Source Humanoid Robot at IROS 2026

RoboParty publicly unveiled RP1 (ROBOTO 01) at IROS 2026, marking the robot's global debut. The company positions RP1 as the world's first high-performance, full-stack open-source bipedal humanoid robot, aimed at researchers, educators, robotics developers and embodied-AI teams.

RP1 builds on the company's earlier project RPO (ROBOTO ORIGIN), a fully open-source humanoid initiative launched in January 2026 that has since surpassed 2,500 GitHub stars. Each release has extended the stack: RPO validated an open bipedal body and motion-control system, Romomo covered actuator modules, and RP Hand moved into dexterous manipulation. RP1 pulls these strands together.

At its IROS booth, RoboParty ran a 'Kick Me' demonstration in which visitors pushed and kicked the robot. RP1 adjusted its posture and recovered its balance under those disturbances — a live test of dynamic stability and system-level robustness rather than a scripted routine.

The capabilities rest on PartyOS, the company's open R&D foundation for humanoid robotics, integrating a training framework called UFO that discovers motor skills through unsupervised learning. Founder Yi Huang framed the project as a counter to closed systems: 'Humanoid robots should not be closed systems that only a small number of teams can build while everyone else can do little more than watch.' Whether an open platform can keep pace with heavily funded proprietary rivals is the open question.
